Australia Tour 2006 2006/10/ 18 Day 2 – Adelaide Arrived Adelaide in the early morning. Adeliade International Airport was located just six kilometers due west of the Central Business District (CBD). It took about 40 minutes for us to travel to CBD by ordinary bus. Bus fare was cheap (@A3.1). We arrived Adelaide Central YHA at about 10 am. It was a budget 2 storey hostel located at CBD with walking distance to Adelaide Central Markets , Shopping malls and Central Bus Station. It was well equipped with a large kitchen and community areas. After check-in and a small rest, we went to Light Square which was named after the city's planner, Colonel William Light . Light was buried beneath a monument in Light Square comprising a red granite monolith topped with a surveyor's theodolite. My first visit to was about 10 years ago when I was on a business trip to Melbourne for about 2 weeks. During my stay, I joined several local tours at my leisure time to explore the nearby areas and was really enjoyed the scenery. Last year when I packed up some of the old materials that I collected from my last trip, I discovered that one of the leaflets describing the journey across the Nullarbor Plain drew my attention. After collecting relevant information, I began to plan my journey. My initial plan was take a flight to Melbourne. It was always a good idea to start the journey where I was familiar with. After one week of residence in Melbourne, I would go to Adelaide by bus and stayed there for about one week. Then I should joined a bus tour to Perth. My last stop would be in Perth where I planned to stay for another week before I returned to Hong Kong. It was expected that the whole journey would take about 35-40 days.
